About Kat
Blog Background: I love to tell stories and I also love being fulfilled and satisfied. This blog is a manifestation of those things. The end.
A Little About Me: I was born and raised in Augusta, Georgia and spent the better part of my life singing in the church choir, playing in the school orchestra, and trying to tame the wild, rebellious streak in me I knew was itching to rear its head. (Later in life this wild streak manifested itself in the form of a nose ring, a few tattoos, and a controlled enthusiasm for whiskey.) Post high school, I spent 6 years in Vermont getting my business duh-gree and setting out on what I thought was a semi-successful career path. After moving to Santa Barbara, California for a few months, unfortunate circumstances led me to my current love affair that is Portland, Oregon. Ah, Portland. I’m a community manager at Instrument and a digital strategist freelancer. I like to nerd out with various companies to get them riding the social train towards community and profit growth.
In my free time, I like to explore Portland’s many neighborhoods and restaurants to satisfy the foodie in me. I left an awesome band back in Vermont and am actively seeking some cool venues and weird musicians to play with here in PDX. I mostly play guitar, but I can fiddle around with the djembe, mandolin, piano, and a few other noise makers. I’m a wanderlust adherent and spend as much time as possible traveling. I lived in Italy for a 6 months, spent a few weeks in China, backpacked all over Europe, and have traveled to over 30 US states. If you invite me on your roadtrip, I’ll come. Photography was a great way to document my travels but has now become a hobby of mine as well. Oh, and last but absolutely not least: I do CrossFit. For life.
I’m always up for meeting new people, trying new restaurants, or grabbing a cup of coffee. We can talk social media, business, music, or about nothing at all. Don’t be a stranger!
